Lean Fall Stand - in conversation with Jon McGregor

02nd, Mar 2022

I'll be in conversation with Jon McGregor about his novel set in Antarctica, Lean Fall Stand, for the UEA Live literature festival on March 2nd.

Jon McGregor is the author of five novels and two story collections. He is the winner of the IMPAC Dublin Literature Prize and the Betty Trask Prize, and has been longlisted for the Booker Prize three times. Lean Fall Stand is Jon’s highly anticipated new novel, that mesmerizingly and tenderly unpicks the notion of heroism and explores the indomitable human impulse to tell our stories – even when words fail us.

Jon and I were both writers-in-residence in Antarctica with the British Antarctic Survey (although in different years). We will take you behind the scenes and explore what that experience of writing and researching in one of the world's wildest and most pristine landscapes taught us about creativity and climate change.
