On Thursday 20th April we celebrated Earth Day 2023 with a special event featuring women artists on Antarctica:
Artists on the Ice: Interpreting the Poetics of Antarctica at the Sybil Centre, University of Sydney, in celebration of Earth Day 2023. Hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre (SSSHARC), this event features four exceptional artists who have documented the power and beauty of Antarctica through writing, visual art, music and sound. Across an evening of storytelling, performance and conversation, Alice Giles AM, Professor Jean McNeil, Dr Diana Chester, and Janet Laurence will share their tales from the ice and interrogate the role of art in environmental engagement.
