Links

Here are a selection of links to sites of interest by theme, encompassing Writers, Fiction writing prizes, contests and opportunities, travel and other areas of interest.

The Story of the Month features a link to a short story available on the internet which has caught my interest or that of my creative writing students.

Writers

This is the lovely new site of my friend Emily Perkins, a New Zealand writer whose luminous new novel, The Forrests, is attracting the kind of reviews most writers can only wish for: http://www.emilyperkinsauthor.com/

Julia Bell's site features not only her literary work but her reportage photography on London: //cargocollective.com/juliabell/

Literature/Writing opportunities

The University of Chichester hosts Thresholds, an international short story forum, which features a very helpful list of links for short story writers listing awards, competitions, magazines and deadlines: See both links below

Literary magazines

Run by the fantastic Scott Esposito, The Quarterly Conversation is a europhile literary magazine based in California, and features interviews, reviews and essays on literary fiction including heroes of 'high' literary fiction such as Robert Walser, Roberto Bolano, Elfriede Jelinek.

Birkbeck College's literary portal The Writer's Hub features fiction, essays, reviews, interviews, podcasts and other information on Birkbeck's creative writing programme.

The University of East Anglia and Writer's Centre Norwich have teamed up to create a new literary portal, newwriting.net, which has both an East Anglian and international flavour and showcases the wealth of literary talent associated with the city and with UEA's Creative Writing programme.

Not quite a literary magazine, Spitalfields Life is the online portal for a nearby neighbourhood and which is home to many artists and writers, documents this creative powerhouse of contemporary London.

African Writing Magazine is a portal for contemporary African fiction - 'many literatures, one voice' is its motto.
